Index Fat If muscle weighs more than fat, how can BMI index be correct?
I train a lot, run about 7-10 miles a week and cycle an average of 50 miles a week as well as free weights. Im 9 stone but only 5ft 2 inches - is this normal for my size (small frame) etc?
The BMI is what it is because it is defined that way. It is a simple ratio. The point is that a muscular person can tolerate a higher BMI than a non-muscular person. Many athletes are in the "overweight" range of BMI, even though they are perfectly healthy. You just have to know your own body and not be overly concerned with that number.
Bottom line: if you're in good shape, don't worry about BMI. It's mainly only useful for the truly obese.
