Mat Towel
is it ok to have a heat mat under a leopard geckos tank even tho the substrate is paper towels?
Yes it is fine to use paper towel. For a long time I used paper due to the number of animals I am caring for. I need to stress a small word of caution. Make sure the paper doesn't get wet. With heat mats that stay a constant 100 degrees, the moist paper can cause some skin irritation. I often use several layers of paper. With paper you'll also need to provide a humid shed box for the critter because the paper makes for a very dry environment.
