Enclosure Combo Please Help with Dual Sub/Amp combo. Subs Bad?
i have a Dual 2 subwoofer enclosure, 12", and a 580 watt Dual amp. the red protection light remains on all the time and the subs do not work. i dont know if the subs are bad or what. i bought it from a guy on the internet so who claims everything worked, so he is no help. i thought that it was kind of wierd that there is only on set of sub hookups on the sub box and it is a two channel amp. maybe the subs are wired wrong inside the box? should the amp be bridged? i dont know but it is all driving me nuts and its freezing outside here in michigan and i just need to figure this all out. please help me.
No, you bridge the amp then wire the subs in parallel the dual box 2 channel amp 1 input is correct "assuming that your amplifier IS bridgable"... the fact that your protect light on the amp is on means the amp is fried.... You need a new amp... its possible when it fried it fried the subs but not toooo likely... You should take a sniff at your amp and subs.. if they smell burt they are toast
I would contact this guy and demand my money back.
But the Red protect light insures that the amplifier is stuck in protectmode... therefore toast
The previous owner most likely wired the subwoofers to 1OHM and the amp isnt reated to play at one ohm so i would also take a look at how the woofers are wired.
